Remaining organised for however many months or years it takes to plan your wedding comes easier to some than others. A lot of stress and tears can take place during this time, and keeping an eye on the end goal can sometimes seem impossible. Yet, we know that if there’s a sense of organisation from the outset, the rest will follow suit.

That’s why we have compiled a list of some essential wedding planning tips and tricks to help make your experience as positive as possible.

Guests come first
Ensure you know the approximate number of guests that you’ll be inviting before settling on a venue; providing ample space for everyone.

Learn the wedding blackout dates
Know in advance if your wedding date falls on the same day as a trade conference, charity walk, or other local event that could cause problems for hotel room availability or traffic.

Listen to mother nature
Especially in the UK, adjust your ceremony and reception to the time of year. The winter will call for most aspects of the day to be inside, whereas, in the summer, you could encompass some outside space.

Pay it forward
Let one vendor lead you to another. You may find the wedding photographer of your dreams after speaking to your florist.

Ask, and you may receive
Request for extra time for aspects of your big day early on in the process, rather than leaving it last minute when there’s more chance of hearing a no.

Get organisationally focused
Use stationery to your heart’s content. Ring binders, coloured dividers, sticky notes, mood boards and anything else that will help you imagine your big day are all useful.

Prepare for rejection
It’s more than likely that a number of your original guests simply can’t make your big day, so don’t be personally offended. Be ready with a backup invitation and move onwards and upwards.

Write down your numbers
Keep an emergency contact sheet or phone with your vendor contacts on you on your wedding day – it may come in handy if you need to contact one of them.

Using these top tips, you will hopefully be more organised than you have ever been. But, don’t forget about the dress, because you want to get it right, and we’re here to help. Take a look online at our collections before booking your VIP appointment at Fleur de Lys Bridal.
